Warriors' Path State Park

The name of Warriors' Path State Park is derived from its proximity to a trading and war path created by Cherokee Indians right on the border of Tennessee and Virginia. It sits right beside the Patrick Henry Reservoir on the Holston River.

Biking and boating

The 950 acre park has enough space to accommodate people of every walk of life. Pleasure boating, water skiing and jet skiing are common sites in the Patrick Henry Reservoir. The marina has 54 uncovered slips available for rent, with free boat launching ramps. The marina also has a snack bar, as well as rental facilities for canoes and paddle boats. Bicyclists are invited to test themselves on the 8.5 miles of paved bicycle trails. There are difficult challenges for even the most seasoned rider.

Camping

Camping is encouraged in the park. The park has 134 sites, with 94 of those equipped with water and electric hookups. There are contemporary bathrooms equipped with lavatories as well as hot and cold running water. The campground also has its own ramp for boat launching directly into the reservoir.

Just for kids

In 2007, Warriors' Path opened the Darrell's Dream Boundless Playground with activities for children, no matter what their abilities are. The park also has a Braille Trail that is wheelchair accessible. It has eight sensory stations that tell the story of Aslan, the great lion from The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis.

The park offers an array of amenities and activities for anyone who is looking to see Tennessee. It caters equally to the rugged adventurer, the weekend warrior and the pleasure camper who does not want to disappear too far into the wilds.
