Tims Ford State Park

Experience the rolling hills and flowing rivers of Tennessee when you visit Tims Ford State Park. This beautiful park is located in the southern middle region of Tennessee and is named after the Tims Ford Dam. It has a unique history and so much to offer its patrons.
History
Before the Tims Ford Dam was built, this region was home to several tribes of Native Americans. Recent archeological research has shown that the area was settled by man between 10,000 and 12,000 years ago. Information about the area's history is provided on plaques throughout the park. The visitor's center also provides guests with literature on the topic.
Tims Ford Lake
Tims Ford Lake has a total area of 10,700 acres and is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the entire state. It is a great place for bass fishing, and is also used for boating and water-skiing. Visitors can expect great fishing in the summer months, though the park is open to visitors all 12 months of the year.
Visiting the park
The park is easy for visitors to access from either Nashville or Chattanooga. The park entrance is on Mansfield Road in the city of Winchester. The visitor center is open from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm all 7 days of the week, and admission to the park is always free.
