Sycamore Shoals State Park

Enjoy all that the natural land in Tennessee has to offer with a visit to Sycamore Shoals State Park. Located in Elizabethtown, this park offers a great mixture of history and nature for its patrons. The park is open from 8 am until 4:30 pm Monday through Saturday and 1 pm until 4:30 pm on Sunday. Tour buses are welcome, and families are encouraged to visit and learn about the history of this area.

History

Sycamore Shoals was very important in the settling of the west by American pioneers. This region was home to Fort Robinson and Fort Patrick Henry during the 1700s and served as the gateway to the west. Today, visitors can learn about these forts and more when they visit the historic displays located within the park.

Outdoor adventures

Sycamore Shoals provides outdoor enthusiasts with days worth of outdoor activities. There is a fitness trail along the Watauga River as well as an offshoot branch that leads to the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. There are picnic facilities scattered throughout the park, including 16 movable picnic tables. Water and electrical sockets are available.

Special events

Several special events are held at the park each year. The local Weavers Club has a show and sale every May and several reenactment groups perform regularly.These events are all open to the public.
