South Cumberland State Park

It is summer and that means enjoying plenty of fresh air with loved ones and doing your favorite recreational activities. This is exactly what you can do when you go to South Cumberland State Park located in beautiful Monteagle, Tennessee.
Park layout
This beautiful outdoor park is comprised of serene waterfalls, rock trails, peaceful streams, rugged rocky gorges, scenic woodlands and plenty of climbable rock formations. You can also stay in the solo cabin, known as Hobbs Cabin. It features a fireplace, six bunks and spring right outside, but you have to hurry, it is only available to whomever reserves it first!
Activities
There are so many activities to choose from at this park. You could go hiking and connect with nature on a personal level. There are several trails for hiking if you want to truly experience the scenery. This park is surrounded by Groudy Lake and features an area for small wind boats or motorboats. Where there is a lake, there is also fishing. Aside from the lake, there are small creeks available for swimming and perfect for cooling down in the heat. There are lots of pavilions, picnic areas and grills where you and your family can enjoy some food and quality time while absorbing your lush surroundings. There are even playgrounds with areas for playing games like badminton, tennis, basketball, volleyball, baseball and horseshoes. For those more interested in the flora and fauna of the park, there is a museum located in the visitor’s center, right in the middle of the park.
