Pickett State Park

Tennessee is truly the "Paris of the South" with its winding rivers and beautiful scenery. While there are some big cities, much of Tennessee's nature remains untouched and can energize the soul. One such area is the Pickett State Park, also known as the Pickett Civilian Conservation Corps Memorial State Park. It is located in a remote section of the Cumberland Plateau and is an example of the serene parks that make Tennessee so appealing.
Hours and directions
If you need to speak with someone or purchase passes, then the park office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you are there to just visit the park, then it is open from 7:30 a.m. to dark. To get to the park, take the I-40 to Exit 317 and take Hwy. 127 north for 46 miles, turn right on Hwy. 154 and travel another 12 miles to the park entrance.
Activities
The park is known for having impressive botanical, geological and biological sites within the forest. It is situated within the 19,200 square feet Pickett State Forest. If you are looking for lodging, then there are cabins, 32 campsites, group camping options and bathrooms for your use. There are also services for boating, fishing, hunting, hiking and backpacking. Lastly, if you just want to visit for the day, there are plenty of picnic tables and short trails for you to walk around.
