Norris Dam State Park

Visitors to Norris Dam State Park can find 4,083 acres of natural beauty in the middle of eastern Tennessee. Named after the dam that lies within its borders, this park contains 700 miles of scenic shoreline and offers a delightful atmosphere and plenty of activities for individuals or families.

Facilities

Norris Dam State Park contains two large camping areas with a total of 75 sites. In addition, both deluxe and rustic cabins with television sets and air conditioning are available. The system of hiking trails includes the Fitness Trail Loop, which has 14 special exercise stations complete with workout charts. Among the park's other amenities are tennis courts, playgrounds, a swimming pool, meeting rooms and a basketball court.

Historical area

Norris Dam State Park's Lenoir Museum Cultural Complex offers free admission. Throughout the year the Lenoir Museum showcases a wide collection of American artifacts, such as tools, musical instruments and furniture. A threshing barn and rice gristmill, which are open from the middle of April until late October, also make up part of the complex.

Nature hikes

Each spring nature lovers can participate in the wildflowers hikes that are held at Norris Dam State Park. Accompanied by guides, visitors hike on trails to search for dozens of varieties of spring flowers. The guides help to identify the wildflowers and describe their history.

Norris Dam State Park offers a combination of nature and modern comforts, giving visitors the choice of whether to rough it in a primitive campsite or relax in a deluxe cabin for a week. Cultural opportunities, fishing, sporting activities and more contribute to the charm of this park.
