Montgomery Bell State Park

Montgomery Bell State Park is one of 54 state parks in the beautiful state of Tennessee. The park is located at 1020 Jackson Hill Road in Burns, Tennessee. Activities, lodging, restaurants and an 18-hole golf course encompass the rolling hills and natural beauty of this 3,782 acre park

Activities

Biking, hiking, boating and fishing are some of the fantastic activities available at Montgomery Bell. Mountain bike on over 20 miles of dirt trails through the forested hills on the northern end of the park, or hike through the 19 miles of maintained trails to spy on the local wildlife and come home with fabulous pictures. Camping in the three overnight shelters available to reserve on the Overnight Trail is permitted with a license. After a brisk bike ride or hike, cool off by any of the three lakes: Acorn, Woodhaven and Creech Hollow. Rent a boat and bring your fishing pole for all the bluegill and shell cracker you can find; do not forget your fishing license.

Lodging

If camping outdoors on the over 40 campsites Montgomery Bell offers is not what you are looking for, book a stay at one of the park’s many villas or the Park Inn. Each villa requires a two night stay minimum and is a home away from home featuring two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and an outdoor fireplace under the covered patio. Villas are rented year round. The Park Inn holds over 120 rooms that have a view of the charming Lake Acorn. Amenities for the inn include cable television, exercise room, laundry facilities, indoor pool and Jacuzzi and a seasonal outdoor pool.

Restaurant

The restaurant in the inn is a wonderful place to eat after a lazy swim in the pool or off the shore of Lake Acorn. If you love seafood, then Friday nights are for you. The seafood buffet offers everything from crab legs to clam strips to catfish. If steak is what you are craving, then come in on Saturday for the steak buffet. The menu includes slow roasted prime rib, roast beef and chopped steak with gravy. Both buffets have choices of vegetables, breads and desserts. Continental breakfasts and sit down lunches are available, as well as a banquet hall to bring the whole gang together.

Golf

Set up your tee time after a light brunch on the Frank G. Clement 18-hole Golf Course. The tree-lined fairways offer a good time for players of any ability. While teeing off, you can see an abundance of wildlife roaming the rolling hills, such as deer, geese and wild turkey. Visit the James H. Fyke Gold Shop for all your golf needs, and spend time with friends and family between games.
