Johnsonville State Park

Johnsonville State Park is one of the most famous state parks in Tennessee. The park itself is scenic and historic because it overlooks both Kentucky Lake and the fields where the Battle of Johnsonville took place. Named after Military Governor Andrew Johnson, this 600-acre park is a major tourist attraction. It provides many activities that outdoor enthusiasts of all ages enjoy.

Hiking and picnicking

Johnsonville State Park is a paradise for hikers. The nearly 6-mile long hiking trail winds through some of the most historical parts of Johnsonville that include cemeteries for the soldiers, dugouts that sheltered the soldiers and old railroads that were laid across the land. People who are interested in history enjoy this trail because it takes them back in time to let them relive the war. The park is also famous as a picnic spot, and it has 25 sheds that can hold up to 25 people. Because the picnic sheds are equipped with grills, they provide an ideal place for anyone to dine outdoors with friends or family.

Fishing

Licensed fishermen can enjoy fishing sessions on the banks of the Tennessee River that is home to various types of fish, the more common of which are bass and catfish.
