David Crockett State Park

David Crockett State Park was dedicated in 1959 to honor one of Tennessee's most famous heroes. The park provides outdoor recreation and historical information year-round for visitors of all ages.

History

David "Davey" Crockett was a pioneer, soldier, politician and businessman, born near Limestone, Tennessee in 1786. Along the banks of Shoal Creek, in what is now his namesake park, he established a bustling industrial community consisting of a gristmill, powder-mill and distillery. In 1821, all three buildings were washed away in a tragic flood.

Amenities

For those seeking to stay for the day or overnight in the park, there are many amenities. Seven cabins are available for rent near Lindsay Lake, but campers should make sure to call ahead for reservations because they fill up quick. There are also two campgrounds for both tent and RV campers. Each campground is equipped with hot showers, bathrooms, grills and electricity. The park even has a full-service restaurant that offers country-style cooking and a large buffet.
