Historical significance

Cumberland Mountain State Park started out as a recreation area for Cumberland Homestead community during the Great Depression. The construction of Byrd Creek Dam along with the park's other structures and trails provided much needed jobs for local workers. Today, many of these buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places.

Cumberland Mountain State Park offers timeless recreation activities amid the beautiful scenery and foliage of eastern Tennessee.
